European Health Insurance card (replacing the Form E111)?

Note: Serving soldiers and their families on the strength of a unit based in Germany, who are on official leave, are covered for emergency treatment only. UK based personnel and all civilians are advised to apply for a European Health Insurance card (replacing the Form E111) prior to arrival which entitles them to medical treatment during a temporary stay in a foreign country.

Are your passports in date? Especially those for children, these need to be re-newed every five years.
Have you got any required medication?

For the winter season, have you:

Fitted / arranged for a hire car with winter tyres?
Got / arranged for a hire car with snow chains?
Had the car serviced for winter, with anti-freeze mixture strengths checked to give protection down to at least -30 Deg C?
